Our weekly field trip took the students to Zaachila, a village approximately 30 minutes from Oaxaca City. Thursday is market day for Zaachila and the surrounding area, so there was plenty for the students to discover.

A nevería is a stall that sells nieves, which is like a Mexican gelato with less fat than ice cream. Popular flavors in Oaxaca are rose petal, tuna (not the fish! it's a fruit) and, naturally, mezcal.
